Anyone walking here will inevitably cross the Nete or Grote Nete every now and then. There is another small stream at this spot that you might not even notice if it weren't for the name. However, the Grote Nete does indeed have its source northeast of Hechtel, about a mile from the Dommel. Hechtel-Eksel is a real source area. The Zwarte Beek also has its source not far from here. In Lier the Grote Nete merges with the Kleine Nete and simply becomes the Nete.
