The Dhünn is a 40.02 km long tributary of the Wupper. It rises in the Bergisches Land and has two source arms. A long stream, called Große Dhünn, rises near the two Wipperfürth villages Peddenpohl and Ritzenhaufe, flows straight through their wooded Bachtal, takes up the Purder Bach and the Mausbach and is dammed in the Vorsperre Great Dhünn the Great Dhünntalsperre.
A shorter arm, called Little Dhünn, rises at Hückeswagen-Dörpfeld on the Wermelskirchen border, flows through the town of Dhünn and is dammed in the Vorsperre Kleine Dhünn the Great Dhünntalsperre.
