In 1285, a pastor from Blankenheimerdorf was first mentioned in a document. This means that there was already a church. The church and parish are first mentioned in the Liber valoris from around 1308. In 1508, however, the parish was dissolved and Blankenheimerdorf became a branch of the Blankenheim parish. The parish was not re-established until around 1540. In 1802, the parish came under the Diocese of Trier and in 1825 it reverted to the Archdiocese of Cologne. Between 1807 and 1835, the parish was dissolved again and the town was again subordinate to the Blankenheim parish as a branch. The parish was finally re-established in 1835. Since 1930, the town has belonged to the Diocese of Aachen.

        Church building

A church in Blankenheimerdorf already existed in the 13th century. The current building, with the exception of the bell tower, was built between 1684 and 1687 at the instigation of Count Salentin Ernst von Manderscheid-Blankenheim. The consecration took place on May 24, 1687. In 1852, the older bell tower was demolished and replaced by a new one. In 1853, the wooden ceiling was renewed and in 1899 a sacristy was added. In 1991, the interior of the church was completely renovated.
