The mill is located in the east of the town of Bendestorf on a seven-acre mill pond. An overshot water wheel was recently restored to its historic form with the active help of the local heritage association. In addition to the mill house and the residential building, the property also includes a cottage, a carriage shed, a bakery, pig and horse stables and a barn.
The old main building, dating from 1752, burned down in 1942 during the Second World War and was partially replaced by the current residential building.
The mill was spared. The current water mill dates from 1886 and was built by miller Wilhelm Bohlmann. The Peters family bought the property from him and today Hans-Heinrich Peters is the owner.
The mill was used fully commercially until 1974, but since 1982 it has only been working for the farm's own needs. Among other things, horse feed and grit are produced as feed for fish in the mill and fishing pond.
The mill, which is worth seeing, is a listed building.
