Two ponds (pond) below the village "Spreitgen" bear the name "Hexenweiher". Whether so-called witch samples were carried out in the Middle Ages, is not historically proven.
Witching means: The women were handcuffed and thrown into the pond. If they went under, they were considered innocent. Mostly, however, it was said: "They are swimming well." But then her fate was also sealed.
Witch trials took place at Schloss Homburg. Thus on September 14, 1631, six women from the Oberkirchspiel were executed on the basis of such an accusation. They were pardoned for the sharpness of the sword because they had "voluntarily" and "confessed" beyond the charge.
