Road Cycling Highlight
The former Catholic church, dedicated to St. Nicholas of Myra, today's Protestant parish church, is not only the oldest church in Wiesbaden, but also the second oldest monument in the city after the Heidenmauer. Built in the second half of the 11th century, the church was rebuilt in 1731-34. Significant is above all the lintel in the south wall, preserved in its original condition, on which there are incised Romanesque drawings. The tower dates back to the 12th century. Inside the church, there are murals from the 14th century and a winged altar dating back to around 1501. During restoration and securing work, paint residues were found on the south façade below the rain-protected roof overhang in 2007. They suggest that the church once resembled the church of St. Clement of Schwarzrheindorf.de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wiesbaden-Bierstadt
