The monument, designed by the Florentine sculptor Libero Andreotti, was inaugurated on 23 June 1924. The names of the fallen of the Great War were shown on the original base. The initiative to create the monument to the fallen was led by a committee of citizens of Roncade, directed by Dr. Cav. Gaetano Ziliotto with the contribution of all citizens. Subsequently the inscriptions were integrated with the names of the fallen of the Second World War. In 2006, a questionable restoration project was carried out with the contribution of a local sponsor. The original base was covered with white marble slabs, thus modifying the proportions of the monument. Today, however, the valuable bronze statue representing the winged Victory in the act of lifting the soldier fallen in battle remains. The monument is located inside a small park in front of the castle, on the banks of the Musestre river.
