Bike Touring Highlight (Segment)
The former coal mine linked the coal mine General Blumenthal VIII / Ewald Forsetzung 1/2/3 in Oer-Erkenschwick with the Venlo-Hambuger railway in Marl-Sinsen. After decommissioning, some sections were rebuilt to an off-road cycling and walking path. Almost throughout as an avenue. Since the railway path is already a bit older, the standard of development does not quite correspond to the usual level of the mainstream railway lines. Can also be used properly in wet conditions,
East of this section of the route is further developed beyond the mine area; the path then becomes the König-Ludiwg-Route. This results in the foreseeable future, a continuous rail link Marl-Sinsen - Oer-Erkenschwick, Horneburg, Suderwich, Röllinghausen / King Ludwid settlement and Herne.
