The up to the summit covered with beech forests, 1,095 m high Hirschenstein is located in the community Achslach. Its exposed location and the 7 m high, stone lookout tower on its highest point allow a unique panoramic view of the Bavarian Forest. The view extends in the east from the Großer Arber to the Dreisessel, in the south the area from Deggendorf to Straubing and in the west to the Gallner can be seen. If the weather is good, the Alps from the Dachstein to the Zugspitze can even be seen on some days. Notes on the tower railing explain to the visitor which mountains and places can be recognized.
