The Rococo parish church of St. Kilian was built from 1742 to 1761 by Johann Jakob Michael Küchel from Bamberg. (Https://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Johann_Jakob_Michael_Küchel).
    History:
The origin of the later place Pretzfeld is probably due to the settlement of a clan from the Germanic tribe of Thuringia in the 6th century. The origins of the elevation of this place to a parish may then be found in a command of Charlemagne from the year 793. He commissioned the bishop of Würzburg and the counts in the area of Regnitz and Franconian Switzerland with the erection of 14 baptismal churches to proselytize the pagan Slavs living here. More likely, however, is that one can assume Pretzfeld as one of the locations of 12 Eigenkirchen, which were founded in the 9th century to secure pastoral care from Würzburg. These received after the Würzburg diocesan patron usually a Kilianspatrozinium. This Patrocinium has probably lasted from these beginnings until today. It should be noted that Pretzfeld in any case already in the time before the Bamberg diocese formation (1007) became an independent ecclesiastical center and thus can be counted among the original parishes in our area. To parish Pretzfeld belonged at this time temporarily 39 places (among other things Ebermannstadt, Moggast)
Church steeple and construction of the present church (1739-1761)
In the 18th century there was a Gothic church with a low, stout choral tower. After 1731-1732 renovation work on the church building had already been carried out, in 1738 the tower was raised. When the work was almost completed, the tower collapsed on September 22, 1739 and smashed half the nave and other parts of the church. After this destruction, a new church was decided and implemented according to the plans of the architect Johann Jakob Michael Küchel. Many of the now baroque forms of Viennese models were modeled on them.
