Mountain Biking Highlight
During World War I, a strong winter storm destroyed huge forest areas here. Because of the labor shortage, the wood could not be removed quickly enough and so the bark beetle could spread rapidly. Between 1919 and 1922, therefore, the forest railway was built, which then provided for a faster removal of the wood. Instead of using the train, you can ride this route today by bike. A bike path leads along the former railway line through many tunnels and beautiful nature. The tunnels are partially lit, but especially in the longer is a separate bike light advantage. Along this route, there are many interesting things about this train to learn the lumberjacks and their history.
Be sure to watch (and plan a lot of time) is definitely a top highlight!
