Road Cycling Highlight
The waterworks III in Hanau-Kesselstadt was built in 1911-1912 by the architect Jean Bernges. It is operated by the Hanauer Stadtwerke. The formerly independent municipality Kesselstadt was incorporated in 1907 in the city of Hanau. At the same time two railway regiments were relocated to Hanau. Thus, the city's water consumption increased sharply and made the construction of a third waterworks required. A suitable place with sufficient groundwater was found in the Kesselstädter forest, today's Burgallee.
The capacity of the two round underground tanks made of reinforced concrete is 2,000 cubic meters each. There are also 13 wrought-iron containers of filter wells with a depth of six meters. The system reduces the high iron content of the water with several suction gas engines and transmissions.de.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wasserwerk_III_(Hanau)
