The historicist, 42-meter-high and oldest water tower Hanau, in pseudo-Tuscan style, a building covered with colored, mainly yellow bricks, is today without function and without any interior furnishings. It was built around 1878, when the Landgrave of Hesse was awarded the lock Philippsruhe after the balance between the house Hessen and Prussia and retrofitted it for the living standard required at that time. For the park of Schloss Philippsruhe the water tower generated the required water pressure for the fountains. It was used until the Second World War, as there were concerns whether the castle's network would have endured the higher water pressure of the urban water network. The sillgelegt water tower is a cultural monument and with its height of 42 meters, it is widely visible as a landmark in the "Philippsruher Allee", especially for the ship traffic on the Main.de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Philippsruher_Allee
