The Gasthuiskerk was originally a chapel of the Sint Elisabethgasthuis.
This building dates from the second half of the 14th century. From 1613 the building was used by the Reformed congregation.
In 1651 the building was enlarged with a gallery, which rests on the Stock Exchange.

Now the gallery, with its sky-blue ceiling, is mainly used to store bicycles.

The Gasthuiskerk was originally built in the 15th century as a chapel of the St. Elisabeth Hospital, which was founded in the 14th century. After the Reformation was introduced in the city, the chapel was handed over to the Reformed Walloon community in 1587. In 1613, however, it was taken over by the city's growing Reformed community, which enlarged it in 1651 by adding a gallery above the stock exchange on the south side. The nave and gallery are vaulted by wooden barrel vaults, and the pulpit and pews date from the middle of the 17th century. Restorations were carried out between 1950 and 1958 and in 1993. The church has no facade. To the north are extensions to the community rooms, and to the south is the stock exchange. In the ridge turret, next to a modern bell, there is a bell cast by H. Waghevens in 1462.
