From here, the Rodau flows 26.4 km through the district of Offenbach (of which exactly 5 km through Rödermark) before it flows into the Main in Mühlheim. The river basin has an area of 168 km2.

The Rodau is the only permanently water-bearing river in Rödermark. The original headwaters of the Rodau are 1,200 m further southwest of here in the wooded hills south of the substation. Due to the construction of the transformer station and drainage ditches to promote agriculture, the groundwater level has dropped significantly in the last 60 years, so that this part of the Rodau is often dry today.

The first permanent source of the river is here and was set in stone in 1980. It is also the namesake of the children's playground. As the spring pond at this point became more and more silted up and overgrown, the activists of the Urberach district group and NABU Rödermark came up with a plan to uncover this spring again and make it accessible to the citizens. The implementation took place between 2015 and 2018 under the leadership of the neighborhood group together with the city and NABU. On October 21, 2018, this redesigned Rodau spring was inaugurated.
