Over the years, Villa Vredewoud has undergone many transformations. It was built in 1899 as a private residence for E. Willinge Prins, then served as a care institution for men with a mental disability, and until 1990 it functioned as Hotel Conference Resort Vredewoud. After the transfer into private hands, Villa Vredewoud underwent a thorough renovation as a national monument and was once again used as a private residence. Today it is used for various purposes, including as a guest house, falabella stud farm and event location.
