Pepe Luis Vázquez (1921-2013) was a famous Spanish bullfighter, considered one of the most important figures in the bullfighting world of the 20th century. Born in the San Bernardo district of Seville, he began his career as a novillero (novice bullfighter) in 1937 and took his alternativa (official matador) status in 1940. He was known for his exceptional technique and courage in the bullring and shared the stage with many famous bullfighters, including Manolete. After his retirement in 1959, he remained a respected figure in the bullfighting world until his death in 2013.
