With the founding of the church building association Muggenhof-Höfen and the surrounding area in the Graf'schen restaurant in Leyh on May 20, 1902, the first steps towards building a church were taken. The decision of the Church Building Association in 1904 was aimed at "elevating the congregation to a permanent vicariate".Senior teacher H. Wachter wrote about the obstacles that stood in the way of the church building association: "In 1904 I was told by the consistory: The congregation only gets its own vicar if it also raises funds for its maintenance itself, which the state provides only subsidies and only when the congregation has created a prayer room or a church".The ceremonial inauguration of the Church of the Redeemer on September 2, 1928 was performed by District Dean Oberkirchenrat Rüdel. As they entered the church, the congregation sang: "Open the beautiful gate, lead me into God's house, oh, how happy my soul will be in this place! Here is God's face; here is pure comfort and light!"A newspaper in Fürth wrote about this important event: “The day of the inauguration was a happy day for the celebrating community.
