Bike Touring Highlight
In the middle of the 256 hectare nature reserve lies the estate Lanken. The historic manor house and the impressive granary were built around 1732 and are listed. Unfortunately, not much has been preserved about the history of Gut Lanken.
The nature reserve, which consists of two sub-areas, is located northeast of Schwarzenbek. It covers a part of the approximately 600 hectares and until the end of 1994 used former training ground "Lanken" with the forests Lindhorst and Ahrenshorst as well as a part of the upper course of the Steinau with their bank areas. It is characterized by different habitats, including open and semi-open landscapes with pioneer grasslands, mineral grass fields, perennials, ponds and wet grassland with interspersed woodland areas and Knicks as well as wet and wet forests. Partial areas within the nature reserve are used for agriculture. Abandoned former agricultural land is occupied by succession fauna. The Steinau lowland in the north of the nature reserve is still partially natural.
In the nature reserve are in the different habitats u. a. Silvergrass, Little Hawkweed, Tall Cowslip and Swampswordlily to find. The nature reserve is the habitat of various species of birds and amphibians, locusts and dragonflies, including skylarks, partridge, tree frog, green hay horse and blue-green mosaic maid.
In 2012, unfortunately, a large part of the area was converted into a huge solar park. This area is therefore no longer accessible to the public.
All around but luckily much beautiful nature has been preserved, which is ideal for cycling or hiking.de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lanken_(Schleswig-Holstein
