"A giant by the name of Goliath wanted to be the strongest and most powerful in the whole country. One day he stood on the "Brunnenberg" in the mountains of Rehburg and had a big stone in his hand. When he was about to throw him away, suddenly a little boy named "David" stood in front of him. He asked, "May I throw?" The giant laughed mockingly and thought, "Well, I'll get you." David quickly picked a stone and it could start. A momentum and the stones flew through the air. But Goliath's stone flew only to the "Nettelnberg", while David made it to the White Dune. About this failed litter the giant was very annoying. He took his sword and struck the big stone in the middle. "
Thus, the once much larger Goliath stone was first divided and after 1900 by blasting experiments even smaller (the remains are today around the stone) and has only about 15 tons weight. The Natural Monument (ND H174) is located on the map east of Mardorf, north of Lütjen Mardrup (yellow elevation 47 m).
