Lindau (Bodensee) is a large district town and the administrative seat of the district of the same name in the Bavarian administrative district of Swabia.
The city, a free imperial city until 1803, is located on the eastern shore of Lake Constance in the triangle between Germany, Austria and Switzerland; its historical center is the old town, which is a listed building, with the magnificent town hall (15th century) on Maximilianstrasse.
