Nice place to stay with a view of the Wuppertal dam. 🌞History and usage
The Wupper Dam is a water dam. It serves the flood protection and the low water increase of the Wupper. In the winter months, part of the storage volume - the so-called flood protection room - is kept free in order to be able to absorb the frequently occurring precipitation. The flood protection area of the Wupper dam is 9.9 million m3. A total of 9.5 million m3 of flood protection space is provided by the Bever, Lingese and Brucher dams.
Four of the total of five Vorsperren the Wupper dam (Wupper, Wiebach, Dörpe, Feldbach and Lenneper Bach Vorsperre) meet water management and ecological tasks. They provide habitat for numerous animal and plant species.
The Wupper Dam, with its recreational opportunities, is a magnet for visitors from all over the region. Numerous hiking trails, rest areas, cottage settlements and a boat harbor for sailing and rowing boats allow recreation, sports and games for the whole family.
