India's Prime Minister Narendra Modi unveiled a bust of the freedom fighter murdered in 1948 in Hanover on April 12, 2015. The monument is a gift. After the revelation, the Prime Minister, together with German Chancellor Angela Merkel (CDU), opened the world's largest industrial show, the Hannover Messe. India was a partner country during the year. Hannover financed the pedestal for around 30,000 euros for the plastic, which is a meter high. Because of the amount of the costs there was a debate among local politicians. Gandhi (1869-1948), with his timeless teachings, is considered one of the moral luminaries of world history. In the early twentieth century, Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi - so his real name - had been testing for years civil disobedience to the arbitrariness of the British colonial power in South Africa, where today one of his great-grandchildren heads the Center for Nonviolence in Durban. Later, he led the Indian independence movement, which ended non-violent British colonial rule. Gandhi died shortly afterwards in an attack.
