The Allgäuer public observatory Ottobeuren e.V. (AVSO) is the oldest and largest public observatory in central Swabia and the Allgäu in the south.The observatory is located about one kilometer southwest of Ottobeuren. The club of the observatory was founded in 1966. In 1969, the original observatory building was put into operation.
