The Gneisenau railway lineFormer railway line from Preussenhafen in Lünen-Süd to the Gneisenau colliery in Dortmund-Derne.
The railway line was opened in 1930 and decommissioned in December 1987. As a combined foot and cycle path, it is easy to navigate and offers on its way industrial culture like a flared pulley or on the edge of the former Ziethenstraße colliery. Start / end point is the Preussenhafen / Gneisenaupark.

On the former Zechenbahn a car-free cycle and footpath between Dortmund-Derne and the Prussian port in Lünen arose. Shady and mostly paved with minimal inclination. The Gneisenau area at the southern end of the route is now park.
In the northern section (Lünen-Süd) some mining relics on the wayside as well as detour to the settlement Ziethenstr. Information under achim-bartoschek.de/details/nw3_24.htm?w
Some of the photos are from the construction of the southern, most recent section and the Gneisenau Park.

The Süggelbach is a rebuilt in the context of the Seseke program close to nature former Köttelbecke in northwest Dortmund. Near the pumping station at the north end of this section, there was no room for expansion of the river bed, so that the trough construction with steel sheet piles was preserved. Further upwards the brook changes partly romantically. Quiet water-bound companion bike path.
After undercutting the Dortmund Canal, the Süggelbach flows into the Seseke and this few hundred meters later into the Lippe.
