The castle Oberschwappach is a castle in the eponymous district of the village located on the northern edge of the Steigerwald Knetzgau in the district Haßberge in Bavaria.Under Abbot Wilhelm I. Sölner, the castle was built in the town center. The Baroque chateau was used to administer the property of the Cistercian Abbey in the surrounding area and was used for the summer residence of the Ebro abbots. After the abolition of the monastery Ebrach in 1803 (secularization), the last abbot of Ebrach, Eugen Montag, was ordered into exile in the castle Oberschwappach. He died there in 1811. As a result, the castle had different owners and was in poor structural condition, when it was acquired in 1985 by the community Knetzgau. Today the castle houses a museum, a kindergarten and a restaurant. The Hall of Mirrors hosts concerts and cultural events.
The museum includes a collection of local history and sacred art, in addition, the state rooms can be visited (including Mirror Hall and Castle Chapel).Source: Wikipedia
