The oldest tomb dates from the Renaissance period and belongs to the knight Peter von Döbschütz (d. 1559).

Access to the northern part of the mountain was provided by a stone bridge, the beginnings of which still exist between the cloister and the mountain cemetery. The current entrance was built in 1577. Since the 16th century, other people besides monks could be buried in the cemetery. Of the older graves, the grave of Michael Zeisig and his wife from the Rococo period (around 1776) has been preserved under a rock overhang. The cemetery was also sought after and appreciated as a motif by Romantic painters, such as Adrian Zingg and Carl Gustav Carus.

There are ancient graves here and, to our surprise, graves from more recent times.
