Hiking

The regional water supply in Wernigerode used to have decentralized water supplies. The district of Hasserode was supplied by the waters of the Drang and Thumkuhlen valleys. An elevated tank with a capacity of 300 m3 was put into operation in 1903. The water inflow came from the "Schlickstal" and "Ch.-Louise" pits as well as through the collection of groundwater and spring water from the Thumkuhlental stream. The water was piped into the elevated tank and into the households without any additional energy expenditure, utilizing the height differences.
