The Fichtebunker is the oldest and only preserved stone gasometer in Berlin. The listed gas tank from 1874 is a work of the civil engineer and secret construction author Johann Wilhelm Schwedler. During the Second World War he served as an air raid shelter. In September 2006, the real estate fund of the state of Berlin sold the building to private investors, who had the yellow brick building converted into a residential ensemble with exclusive condominiums by spring 2010.
