The Reddersen family had owned the house since the middle of the 18th century. The last owner and resident, Ms. Marie Reddersen, decreed in her will the establishment of a charitable foundation under the name of her family and the transfer of the house and property into this foundation. After extensive renovation measures, the house was opened on July 13, 1997.
Due to its combined use as a museum, institution for the promotion of art and tourism office, the Reddersen House is now a center of cultural life in Northeim.
