St. Kilian's Church owes its name to the Irish monk Kilian, who evangelized this region in the 7th century and was martyred in Würzburg around 689. Located on the former cemetery, the church presents itself as a rural Baroque building.

An old chapel existed on this site as early as the 11th century. After the Reformation in Württemberg (1534), Johannes Rempis, a former Augustinian monk, is documented as the first Protestant pastor.

The major reconstruction of St. Kilian's Church took place between 1732 and 1734. The round-arched windows, the octagonal half-timbered tower with its Italianate cap, the south portal, and the west portal with its keystone depicting the Lamb of God with the victory banner (a symbol of the cross and resurrection) also belong to this construction phase.

The inscribed stone embedded next to the west portal is a gravestone from the 15th century. The stone tablet embedded in the south wall of the church originally contained an inscription detailing the church's expansion between 1732 and 1734.
The interior of St. Kilians Church was renovated in 1966.

St. Kilians Church in Wüstenrot is a small, compact Protestant church. It was built on a Romanesque chapel from the 11th century and received its present form in 1732. Only a few parts of the Baroque furnishings remain after a renovation in 1966. The baptismal font and organ date back to 1784.
The tower has a squat, Italianate dome on an octagonal, half-timbered bell tower.
