Haus Bürgel

On the road between Dusseldorf - Urdenbach and Baumberg lies directly the original Roman castle house Bürgel.
Today, the house is a museum temple. Furthermore, it is a biological station of the district Mettmann.
There is a beautiful landscaped cottage garden. In the fall is apple harvest.
There are occasional tours of the VHS.

House Bürgel goes back to a Roman fort, of which, however, only a few remains of walls are present. The exact origin and large parts of the history of the house Bürgel remain unclear. A special feature is that the house in a severe flood of the Rhine in 1374 "left" from the left to the right side of the Rhine - due to the changed position of the Rhine ...

Today you will find here a Roman Museum, a biological station and a cold-blooded breed, with regular events.

A beautiful place with a rich history

A stop here is an essential part of a hike / bike tour through the Urdenbacher Kämpe. You can get coffee and refreshments here, walk through the orchard (the individual varieties are explained on display boards), visit the museum or just enjoy the idyll in the courtyard.

Former Roman fort with a museum

Haus Bürgel is located in the very scenic Urdenbacher Kämpe on the site of a former Roman fort. The house houses a Roman museum, the Biological Station Stadt Düsseldorf – Kreis Mettmann e.
