The Angertalbahn, also called Kalkbahn because of the lime transport, mostly runs along the Angerbach between Ratingen West and Wülfrath. The 17.22 kilometers long route was opened in 1903. Only after completion of the railway could the large limestone quarries around Wülfrath and on the upper Düssel be developed. It is used to transport lime from Wülfrath to the smelting works on the Rhine and Ruhr.
