"Today, the surviving building ensembles of the former mine Unser Fritz 2/3 are renamed" Künstlerzeche. "Today, renowned artists present their works at the Weißkaue, while events and festivals take place in the Schwarzkaue with gallery 3 was opened in 2009 as an additional event hall. The prehistory of Shaft 2 begins with a tragic incident: On July 25, 1875 on shaft 1 there was a crash explosion, in which seven miners were killed. The mining authority then demanded the installation of a second shaft to improve the weather conditions. He was finally put into operation in 1885. A chain railway connected the plant with shaft 1, where the coals were loaded. In 1903, a third shaft went into operation next to shaft 2. From 1907 he took over the entire promotion of the plant 2/3. Shaft 2 served only as a weather shaft. The coal mining on Our Fritz 2/3 was, however, already set back in December 1925 in the course of the major rationalization program in the entire Ruhr mining. The Künstlerzeche has meanwhile developed into a cultural center of supra-regional appeal. It also has more significance as a location on Gahlensche Kohlenweg. Coal transport, which ran for about 30 kilometers from Hattingen to Dorsten, is reminiscent of works of contemporary art along the route that was opened 250 years ago.
