Steg reservoir
Water is collected in the Valüna and dammed in the Steg reservoir. In addition, part of the Malbunbach is also fed into the reservoir. The water is fed through a pressure pipe to the Samina plant in Vaduz, where electricity is produced.
1947-48 water reservoir of the Saminawerk built in the footbridge (1296 m above sea level; area: 3.2 ha; 100,000 m3 usable storage volume). The Steg reservoir is located on the Samina above the Malbunbach estuary and is additionally endowed with a maximum of 550 l / s from the Malbunbach. A pressure tunnel carries a maximum of 1.5 m3 / s of water into the moated castle on Masescha (1270 m above sea level) and through a pressure pipe to the headquarters in Vaduz (457 m above sea level) and then via the Vaduz Giessen in fed into the inland canal. A bed load trap (Gänglisee) is located in front of the Steg reservoir in order to reduce the supply of sediment. Regular emptying of the reservoir (removal of fine sediments, checking the bottom outlet) prevents permanent animal and plant communities from developing in the Steg reservoir. Fishing is possible through the management of the Liechtenstein Fisheries Association.
