The best way to enjoy the Grand Canal is, of course, the vaporetto (the one that makes the most stops, not the fastest). In front of the Venice - S. Lucia station, you buy tickets and embark, trying to win a seat outside, in order to see (and possibly photograph) both banks without problems (the stops alternate on the right and left bank). The ideal would be to have a map with sketches or photos that reproduce the various buildings and significant places that overlook the Canal. Once you get off at the terminus or at the S. Marco stop, you can go back on foot, crossing the Grand Canal on one of its bridges (Ponte degli Scalzi, Ponte dell'Accademia, Ponte di Rialto) or using one of the "ferries", gondolas that the Venetians transfer to the other shore at the cost of a couple of euros. The best point to observe the Canal, however, is from a parapet of the Rialto Bridge from which you can see the incredible amount of boats, the crazy anthill of tourists, the rare Venetian docs, the restaurants, the cafes, the palaces. .. Finally, at least a second night tour should not be missing, with the warm lights of the clubs flickering on the dark water.
