Built in Roman times, the site of the fairy castle forms a spur enclosed in the confluence of the Morceux gutter with the Muno stream.
The site was occupied for several centuries, from the Gallo-Roman period until the 11th and 12th centuries and also in the 18th, under Louis XIV, where the site became a redoubt (fortification system consisting of a fortified defensive site in the exterior of a larger fort).
