The Catholic parish church of St. Stephanus is the oldest building in Niederburg. The tower of the church - a Romanesque building - dates from the beginning of the 13th century, with pilaster strips, rows of blind arches and round arch friezes. It has a height of 34 m. The choir dates from around 1380, it is vaulted with ribs. The intermediate ship (nave) was rebuilt in 1746. The church was repaired in 1781 and 1835 and after 1945 three aisles were added.

The Romanesque west tower of the church is likely to have been built as early as 1300, as was the foundation of the church's nave. This is mentioned in a document in 1309, as is the priory of the Niederburg church over Damscheid and Urbar.
