The special feature of this dam is its age: Built in 1894 - 1896, it is the oldest dam in South Westphalia and is a listed building. Originally used as a water reservoir for the hammer mill and Schleifkotten along the Heilenbecke, today it serves mainly the drinking water supply. The bathing is unfortunately forbidden! But it is a hotspot for the local anglers.
