Bike Touring Highlight
Nice location, good restaurant and just the ferry, which is one of the last of its kind in Germany.
Excerpt from Wikipedia:
The wooden boats originally used for the ferry service have now been replaced by modern vehicles in metal construction. Since August 2005, a modern ferry boat named "St. Adelheid "whose hull is made of double-walled aluminum. It can carry 20 people or about 10 people with bicycles. The ferry was built in the Lux shipyard in Mondorf, a few kilometers away, and financed by the city of Troisdorf and with the help of private sponsors. The dark green painted hull is marked on starboard with the inscription "Stadtbezirk Beuel", on port side is "Stadt Troisdorf".
The last predecessor model, a steel Gierponte ("Sieglinde" baptized) was 57 years in operation and now serves on land as Pflanzkübel. It can be visited in front of the excursion restaurant "Zur Siegfähre", which has been located directly on the banks of the Bergheim since the 1920s.
The eco-friendly, because emission-free traffic connection works with the help of the flow force, which together with a large tail rudder ensures that the ferry on a taut across the river stretched (Scharseil) along. For this purpose, the boat is connected to the razor wire with a rope (Giertau) and a roller attached to it. With low water levels and lower flow speed, the ferryman can intervene to assist or change the angle of attack of the ferry with a stake.
The trip takes about 1½ minutes and costs 50 cents per adult or bicycle, 30 cents per child. The ferry service is usually maintained from Easter to the Day of German Unity in the period from 09:30 to 20:00 in the morning and from 09:00 on Sundays.

Great location with a very nice view of the Sieg ferry. Simple but inexpensive kitchen, friendly staff, cold beer. Building itself unattractive. A beer garden needs gravel on the floor, chestnuts and wooden benches. Instead, as so often, unfortunately, plastic furniture, plastic tablecloths, concrete. Too bad it would be so easy.
