Tips

The Kesselberg, a mountain pass between Kochel and Walchensee, is often heavily used. It is advisable to drive it early in the morning, because otherwise you can not enjoy the beautiful route because of all the cars, RVs and motorcycles. There are stops to breathe with a nice view down. Hiking trails branch off at the pass. The old Kesselbergstraße is no longer passable, scree and partly very steep, so for "normal" wheels so not necessarily suitable. The first part helped me shorten the route, but then I followed the road today.

Beautiful Walchensee round with challenging beginning (Old Kesselbergstraße) and this as a finale

The Kesselberg is a "must" for every cyclist who likes to travel in the mountains. On the way from cooking upwards you have in some places a wonderful view back and if you have the pass saddle behind you you will be rewarded with the panorama of the Walchensee and the Karwendel.
