The Braies Lake has a unique location in the middle of the Braies Dolomites and in the northern part of the Fanes-Sennes-Braies Nature Park. The geological origin of the "Pearl of the Dolomites Lake", as the emerald lake is often called, is due to the formation of a dam by a Murenabgang.

Also in the world of legends the Pragser Wildsee plays a role, because with a boat one could allegedly reach the underground realm of the Fanes. The gateway to the underworld was at the southern end of the lake, where the imposing Seekofel (2,810 m) towers over the lake. It is no coincidence that this peak of the Pragser Dolomites, which is sought after by mountaineers, bears the name "Sass dla Porta", ie Torberg. The Pragser Wildsee is also the starting point for numerous mountain tours in the area and also the Dolomite Trail no. 1 takes its exit here. From the surrounding mountains you can enjoy a breathtaking view of the lake. If you prefer more leisurely walks, the Seerunde along the shore is just right!

So, now we were there too - at Braies Lake 🏞. He is fantastically beautiful, that is undeniable. But it is churning out tourists from coaches, who then like the ants make a pilgrimage around the lake to treat themselves to a sausage ... Too bad, it would be really a very nice place. We only lasted a few minutes and then fled! The arrival by bike was now no visual highlight, unfortunately, you have to drive a long way on the access road.

The Lake Braies, also known as the "Pearl of the Dolomite Lake", is located in a unique location in the middle of the Braies Dolomites.
The Pragsersee lies in the same named Pragser valley, which branches off between Welsberg and Niederdorf of the Pustertal. The geological origin of this mountain lake in the northern part of the Fanes-Sennes-Prags Nature Park is due to the formation of a dam by a Murenabgang. The lake has become known in recent years by the Italian television series "Un passo dal cielo".
The Pragser Wildsee is the starting point for numerous mountain tours in the area. The Dolomite Trail no. 1 also starts here. From the surrounding mountains you can enjoy a breathtaking view of the lake. If you want it more comfortable, the approximately 4 km long Seerunde along the shore is just the thing. And on a rowboat tour, you can let your mind wander, but only the bravest dare to jump into the real cool summer.

Altitude: 1.469 m above sea level.
    Extension: 31 ha
    Depth: max. 36 m

Rent a boat and enjoy the tranquility of the Wildsee ... Unfortunately, that's not the case
because the boathouse is often overcrowded ... everyone wants paddling.

The Braies Lake (Italian Lago di Braies) is a mountain lake in the Braies Valley in the South Tyrolean municipality of Prague. It is located a few kilometers south of the Alta Pusteria between Brunico and Dobbiaco in the Braies Dolomites. It is part of the Fanes-Sennes-Prags Nature Park and thus a protected natural monument.
