    1838: In this year the trained brewer Joh. Matthias Schumacher buys the brewery ›Im Sunrise‹ on Citadellstrasse. 12, in Düsseldorf's old town. He takes over the entire facility from Carl Joseph Kürten and pays the then proud amount of 1,702 thalers, 13 groschen and 6 pfennigs. Matthias Schumacher knew what he owed his guests, a beer brewed from the best hops, first-class malt and clear well water. Back then, he already brewed his beer according to the purity law of 1516.1871: Ferdinand Schumacher I, who had meanwhile taken over the brewery from his uncle Joh.
