Bike Touring Highlight (Segment)
The heathland of the Misselhorner heath near Hermannsburg is one of the most beautiful in the Südheide Nature Park. Here, two large heaths merge seamlessly into one another: the Misselhorner Heide and the Tiefental, which is often called "heathland on Eicksberg".Gentle hills with extensive heathland, which are interspersed again and again by gnarled junipers characterize the landscape. The Misselhorner Heide begins 1.5 km east of Hermannsburg and is part of the "heathland mean Lüßplateaus", a nature reserve in the nature park Südheide with a total area of approximately 293 ha. To the nature reserve "heathland mean Lüßplateau", which exists since 1995 , among other things also counts the heath at the Schillohsberg.
The Tiefental is directly adjacent to the Misselhorner Heide. In the ice age, a deep dry valley was created here, which shows a particularly multifaceted landscape. The deep valley
Although the deep valley is only a few hundred meters wide, it impresses with a unique panorama. In Tiefental held around 1860 the well-known missionary founder and Hermannsburg pastor Ludwig Harms sermons in this unique setting. An information board along the way of the Heidepanoramaweges gives a lot of information about this. Guided hikes in the footsteps of Ludwig Harms in Tiefental are also offered.
