Directly from the old town up to the village Tirol. Wonderful panorama, whoever wants to go further up takes the train to the ladder pasture and hikes from there to the Mutspitze (good condition required), the mountain of Merano.

The chairlift connects the village of Tirol directly with the old town of Meran.
It is a fast, comfortable and interesting alternative to the well-known hiking trails or the always full transport links from Tyrol to Merano. The lift is in operation from April to October.

The hotel panorama, at the top of the lift, are very recommendable. Great rooms, nice spa area and good food

Meran and Dorf Tirol have been connected by a lift since the late 1940s: the Meran-Dorf Tirol chairlift, also known as the panorama lift.Even though this chairlift was completely overhauled in the mid-1980s by the Götsch family, who also run the Hotel Panorama (directly at the mountain station), it has lost none of its charm from earlier times. Even the logo of the chairlift, which comes from the artist Lenhart (1898-1992) and characterizes the facade of the valley station (only a few steps away from the Merano arcades), comes from the early days of this lift. And the feeling of stepping directly into history also continues when you reach the ticket office and the entrance: every friend of old, history-steeped facilities will get teary-eyed with joy at this historic, but fully functional facility!impressionsThe role of today's modern chairs, slowed down by clutches, is still taken by the very friendly lift attendant, who first guides his passengers to the right place, and after holding back the chair, gently positions it under your behind. Now it's gently and slowly uphill towards Dorf Tirol. On a difference in altitude of 180 meters you glide silently over vineyards and the Tappeinerweg, initially accompanied by the sounds of Meran's old town, which fade into the background as the journey progresses. Also at the mountain station, a lift attendant takes care of a safe exit. From here you can reach Dorf Tirol on foot or by bus, but also the Tiroler Steig, which takes you directly back to the town via the Tappeinerweg.Even if you don't actually have any plans in Dorf Tirol, the inexpensive round-trip ticket takes you briefly and silently over the roofs of Meran and rewards you with a fabulous view of the city and its surroundings. In the hot summer months it is a real pleasure to escape the heat of the city with this lift for a short time, to feel the wind in your hair on the airy armchairs!Prices

Good view and cozy! You don't have to say more. Anyone who lives in Dorf Tirol will love this lift to get to Merano without a car and vice versa.
