The "Obergurgler Zirbenwald" (1950m - 2100 m) is a closed approx. 20 ha large pine tree collection with some well over 300 years old pine trees. This high age of the Swiss stone pines represents a pronounced rarity. Therefore, this "diamond" in the richly filled jewelry box of the Obergurgler Landschaftsraum has been designated as a natural monument since 1963.
A forest fire in the 1880s would have almost destroyed this gem. Only then old pine trees have survived, which today build up a two-stage forest in addition to the fresh young growth. On sunny patches in between, in gaps below, in and on old and young trees but blooms, proliferates, crawls and buzzing an amazing variety of mysterious Bergwesen.Der Obergurgler Zirbenwald is part of the UNESCO Biosphere Reserve - Gurgler comb. Today leads a 2.1 km long adventure trail through the pine forest.

Through the pine forest leads a nature trail (brochure is available at the info in place), which offers a lot to discover especially for children.

It smells amazing and the paths are playful over roots and in small curves. At every other corner you will find a well-kept bench with a view.
