Named after Richard Reymann (* December 13, 1840 in Budissin (today Bautzen); † February 13, 1913 ibid), chronicler of the city of Bautzen and author of the "History of the City of Bautzen"The path, which was laid out in 1935, leads from the Mühltor to the passage in front of the New Gate, where it becomes the Osterweg.

This passage in front of the new gate of the Ortenburg was created in 1939 to connect former post routes along the city and castle walls. At this point, the Reymannweg, laid out in 1935, changes from the Alte Wasserkunst to the Osterweg. Richard Reymann is the author of the "History of the City of Bautzen" from 1902 and lived from 1840 to 1913.The Osterweg is the romantic lookout path above the Spreetal and leads around the entire castle complex to the exit gate from 1639.
