In 1867, today's nurses' home was built as a hospital. Today's St. Josef Hospital is directly opposite. The former hospital was founded by the nun Rosa Flesch, the founder of the Waldbreitbach Franciscan Sisters of the Blessed Virgin Mary of the Angels. The mother house of this order is the Marienhaus monastery below the Waldbreitbach district of Glockscheid. She was beatified by the Catholic Church in 2008. A portrait of the Franciscan is in the Catholic Church in Adenau.
