Mountaineering Highlight
The Nebelhorn was first mentioned in 1811 in a tax register of the tax district of Oberstdorf. 1819 was followed by the mention in the Uraufnahmeblatt the Bavarian State Survey, both times as a foghorn. The eponymous name is the view of the mountain from the upper Illertal. From here, the mountain could have been used to predict a change in the weather, when the summit was covered in fog (Wikipedia).

A must if you are visiting Oberstdorf. I love the look over to the Grümpen.

From Oberstdorf 1380 meters of altitude have to be overcome. There is currently no cable car. So feet are trendy. But you are sometimes all alone up there with a fabulous silence and view. 😃

If you want to go to the summit you either start at the ski jump and walk over the Oytal or start in Reichenbach and from there on the Gaisalpsee. The third possibility leads over the fold brook planel, the way from the middle station to the station Höfatsblick is partly a driveway.
