The Frankenburg is a natural monument and the ruin of a rock castle in the district of the Southern Wine Route in Rhineland-Palatinate. It was located above the Modenbachtal on a promontory, called Franken Rock, the Frankenberg for the protection of the road opposite the castle Meistersel.
From the Frankenburg only a few remains of walls and traces are present in the rock. The rock lies on the Frankenberg in 545 m height. Vorburg and main castle are separated by a neck trench.

Not very many hikers start the ruin. There is not much left. Nevertheless, worth a detour.

There are only preserved rock formations of the Frankenburg. Nevertheless, a nice focal point overlooking the valley
